Veteran of the Month
May 2008

Congratulations to
Robert J. Orvik

In partnership with the Veterans Coordination Commission, we are pleased to present the May 2008 Veteran of the Month Recognition to Robert J. (Robin) Orvik.

Robert Orvik was raised in North Dakota and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955. He served for over six years in the United States and overseas. During Robert's military career, he was awarded the Air Force Longevity Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge in 1961, Robert worked various jobs including building the missile sites for the US Air Force as a Boeing employee.

Robert has been a quiet veteran helping our community in many ways. He has a long history of giving food, clothing, money, time and effort to those in need. He is a strong supporter of veterans and has aided many over the years. He performs work for free for several local churches, assisting the Black Hills Childrens Home, Crazy Horse Memorial or just helping someone in need.

Robin Orvik exemplifies a true veteran, he is a compassionate, caring man who extends the quiet hand of help from one human being to another.
